Born in Bulgaria, I travelled the world in my early 20s seeking higher education, appropriate business environment and a place to one day call my home. I studied Business and Marketing in Denmark where I also absorbed a lot of the Danish culture and high standards of life. I then refined my entrepreneurial skills and cultural awareness in Melbourne, Australia, where I was entrusted to represent my university under an EU-funded scholarship for a semester at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
After graduating with honours, marketing became more of a philosophy, or a lifestyle, for me, so I still needed a profession to grow into and practise with pride. I also needed an English-speaking country within a few hours’ flight from my parents. I started my law degree in London before I was 25 and I quickly realised that property will be my subject of choice to develop into.
I have been working within property law for over 6 years now, and I am a qualified chartered legal executive. My daily work is mainly related to commercial property, but I am passionate about helping people start their journey on the property ladder so I engage a lot with first time buyers on social media when I can.
It all started with providing friends with information on how to buy a home in England on Facebook when I was still a paralegal. The forum became very popular and is still growing. I was constantly receiving enquiries from buyers before, during and after their purchase. Their message always started with “We don’t know who else to ask” or “We cannot wait until our solicitor comes back from annual leave to discuss this issue”. The feedback was that my help and support was invaluable throughout and gave them peace of mind in the most stressful moments.
The urgent need for a professional, who is on the buyers’ side at all times, quickly emerged. My clients pointed out to me that there is no-one out there who supports buyers from the very beginning when they are considering buying a property and having hard time with their credit score or deposit. There is no one to ask “stupid” questions during the process and no one after the purchase to support them in their early days of ownership. They deal with estate agents once they start actively looking for a property, however estate agents work for and in the best interests of the sellers. Buyers also deal with mortgage advisers, or directly with the banks, but only in relation to the financial aspect of their purchase. Finally, solicitors acting for the buyers only deal with the legal issues and are very limited with the time they can spend with clients. There really is a need for an experienced person to walk buyers through this whole entire process, which can take years, offering them the practical advice, support and courage they need. In my case, being a legal professional is a bonus which means I am also able to provide buyers with guidance on the legal process as well, where needed.
This is the background of how the mentorship programme was born and designed by my clients. I have been mentoring members of my social network for more than four years now and the feedback and gratitude only goes to show how much such a mentor is needed by every first-time buyer (or first-time investor). You can read more about my mentorship programme here. You can claim a full refund of the books as well as a 20% discount from the programme with your book order number and email to Mentor@buy-your-home.co.uk.
Property has been my hobby and passion for a long time. In the United Kingdom, this industry is very well developed and incredibly accessible to every Tom, Dick, and Harry. TV shows like Homes Under the Hammer, Dream Home Makeover, Grand Designs, Tiny House Nation, and Love Your Garden inspire me every day and give me ideas for future projects.
For me, property (and land in general) is an incredible phenomenon in our civilisation, which provides endless opportunities for everyone to create a cosy home and make long-term investments.
Apart from the books, the webinars and the mentorship programme, Annie and the team at Umbrella Protect have recently launched the Buy Your Home group on Facebook. This is a friendly hub where everyone can raise any “stupid” questions and start friendly discussions on the topic.
